Remarks & Notes |
Discovering a previously unseen image from 83 years ago is quite a thrill, particularly when the location is one seldom photographed. The negative of this wonderfully evocative suburban scene arrived by post this morning and it just had to be shared. OK, it's not razor sharp, but it simply oozes that railway atmosphere that sadly has long since passed into history. I expect that the housewives living in the terraces did not bless the smoky passage of trains on washday! I hope this image brings much seasonal pleasure to our viewers. Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to one and all. Viewers Keith Long and Brian Stephenson answered my plea for a location, now confirmed by Google Maps. This is in the cutting with Kensal Green Station (behind the camera) and Chamberlayne Road bridge, seen in the distance. The train is heading out of London. Top marks guys!
