Remarks & Notes |
With an added UP "Fast Forty" Amtrak train 5 the San Francisco Zephyr screams past a UP freight that is having power problems at Rock Springs. It had been a very cloudy, wind swept stormy day along the overland route and I had decided to spend the night in Rock Springs just because I was tired of wrestling with my 1978 Ford LTD in the winds and disappointed in the high amount of trains and total lack of sun. After an early dinner as I was making my way around town I came across a stopped freight and shockingly the sun popped out to light the scene in a golden glow. As I was shooting the freight I heard a horn to the east and I sprinted west to get a little room to clear what was flying along on the main. The sun lasted through this shot of the Zephyr and within a couple minutes was gone for the day. |
