The radio crackles to life, as an OCS clearance is given to CEFX 1040 west. After meeting a string of eastbounds at Guelph Junction, 1040 and its 6000 or so feet of manifest freight reach track speed after tackling the grade at Puslinch. Passing the siding tracks, CP 245 will hold the main all the way to Nissouri. The derelict siding to the far left was once home to a small locomotive storage facility. However, the storage facility was claimed by a fire a few years ago and was never replaced, now the siding is unused. On the other hand, the siding to the right is used when congestion increases and a meet west of Guelph Junction is required.
