Remarks & Notes
The D&RGW purchased six GE 44 ton shop switchers in 1941-42, becoming some of Rio Grande's first diesel locomotives. D&RGW 41 was sold to the Utah Power & Light as a switcher at the Carbon (power) Plant at Castle Gate, Utah in August 1954. The light duty, 380 HP machine served the plant well, shuffling coal hoppers around the Castle Gate yard until its retirement in January 1976. Eventually the little GE would be sold off to Chrome Crankshaft of Joliet, Illinois.
