Westbound Amtrak No. 33, the "Shenandoah," was crossing the Potomac River from Magnolia, WV and into Maryland on Sept. 11, 1977, led by "Pooch" No. 714. During this time period, P30CHs seemed to be the preferred power on the Washington-Parkersburg trains.
Powerful members of Congress once helped this scenic state get levels of service not seen elsewhere. Now the Capitol Limited and Cardinal are all that remain.
