Harper's Ferry, WV 9/4/2009 - Under the light of the full moon, MARC commuter train P-883 returns empty to Brunswick, MD, crossing the Potomac River from West Virginia into Maryland. P-883 is the last train each night that runs from Washington, D.C. to Martinsburg, WV, arriving in Martinsburg at 9:14 p.m. After disembarking all its passengers, it runs east to stage at the Brunswick yard for the next day's run. The train is crossing the Potomac on the number 2 main track; the bridge to the right is the original mainline crossing dating into the 1800's, now used to access the Shenandoah Subdivision to Winchester, VA. The "newer" mainline bridge was constructed in 1931.
