Making it's RP.Net debut--This GE 60 ton operated between 1928 and 1966 and pioneered the Hanna Mining electrification program which replaced steam engin power in the mine pits. The engin was used to haul 30 cubic yard dump cars removing crude ore and bringing it to the Mesabi Chief wash plant. The unit participated in the removing of forty million tons of ore from 1928 to when the mine closed in 1966. Today it sits near downtown Keewatin in amazingly good shape and graffitti free all things considered. |
