Steamin' up the Rotary Fleet. White Pass Master Mechanic Wayland Ferreira greases and oils the running gear on Locomotive 69 as the cab crews bring the rotary and her two pusher engines up to pressure for a day of plowing up on the mountain. Each night, the White Pass crews broke the rotary train into two parts, before storing the equipment on servicing tracks, just in front of the engine house. On the left, Rotary #1 sits coupled to Locomotive 73. On the right, the 69 stands coupled with the cupola-equipped Combine 211. Shortly, both trains will back down to the switches at the south end of the yard, where the rotary fleet will be re-assembled and again charge up the hill to do battle with the snow-pack.
