Remarks & Notes |
"Be Your Brother's Keeper" . . . One of my all-time favorite photos at Geneva Works features United States Steel 40 working the south end of the Mold Preparation Building in Vineyard. Note the stark contrast between the freshly painted Baldwin S-12 and the industrial fallout of the mill property. USS 40 (blt. the Southern Pacific 1499 in Nov. 1950) was acquired from Chrome Crankshaft in July 1973. No doubt the shiny bright livery on #40 didn't last long within the harsh environs of the mill.
