Remarks & Notes |
CNW had a few 6 axle Baldwins that they had re-powered with EMD 567's during the late 50's-mid 60's. When they had a severe power shortage during the early 70's they picked up a large amount of used units from nearly anyone that could spare them. This included a lot of EMD F's and geeps along with a quite a few other oddities. Those included ex N&W C628's and a group of ex MKT Baldwin/EMD hybrids that came via PNC. Most of these called Green Bay home and worked like geeps in switching and road service in the Fox River Valley, west to Wausau and north into Upper Michigan. This unit was retired on December 29, 1980 and was scrapped at Green Bay(?) during 1981. The shot of 1494 at Wausau has been in my collection for a long time, no photographer listed on slide. |
