Remarks & Notes |
Here is a third large boilered GNR 4-4-2, No 4444 seen storming past Belle Isle on the way out of Kings Cross with a special for the horse racing at Newmarket. The train is formed of former South Eastern & Chatham railway cars borrowed from the Southern Railway for the occasion, a Pullman leading followed by four Gilbert cars built in the USA in 1891. All are in the former SE&CR's crimson livery. Photo scanned from a glass quarter plate negative by the late F.R. Hebron. |
