Late in 1976, Provo Trainmaster Eddie Anderson requested EMD SD7/SD9s to handle heavy tonnage trains between Geneva Steel and Provo. The newly arrived 5310 is photographed working the west end of the yard. I'll never forget how thrilled my father was to have 'Cadillacs' assigned to work in our home town. Check out all the interesting D&RGW equipment in the background of this view shot on Kodachrome 64 slide film on a snowless Dec. 12, 1976. A note to the present: all of the drill and team tracks (north of the Provo yard office) were removed by the UP after the merger with SP, and the accompanying Google map illustrates that fact.
