This is an L&N company photo (original photographer unknown). The train is Cincinnati-Knoxville (TN) day local number 29, which made all the stops on this, the "KY" Subdivision of L&N's Cincinnati Division. At the time, the route as far south as Corbin was all double track with automatic block signals. Since the mid to late '60s, it's been CTC with stretches of double track---including this one that still survives. Then, as now, the line through Ryland bisects a country club. The bridge from which the shot was taken is a cart path, but it's available for photography of CSX freights even today.
Huge Album that Includes over 2,600+ photos of classic passenger trains across USA & Canada before and during the time of Amtrak & VIA Rail. More Images will be Added.
