On Sunday, June 10, 2012, the Utah Transit Authority ran their first test train along 24 miles of the new 45 mile Salt Lake City to Provo commuter rail extension. The little train is pictured in the Jordan Narrows between the Salt Lake and Utah Valley areas. Union Pacific's Provo Subdivision (ex-D&RGW) runs parallel to the UTA route the entire distance. Testing will continue with the line scheduled to open for regular service by December.
