"Eat Taters & Wear No Clothes" ET&WNC's two Consolidation 2-8-0's regularly operated tender-first (hence, the cut-down sides of the coal bunker) on their "eastbound" runs from Johnson City to Elizabethton, Tenn. Being only a 9-mile run and owning no (standard gauge) cabooses, the conductor and brakemen often rode the footboards. The coal is en route to the rayon plant, received in interchange from the Clinchfield at Johnson City. No. 207 and train is near Milligan on Nov. 22, 1966. Companion 2-8-0 No. 208 and the 207 returned to the NS to assume their original numbers on the Southern -- 630 and 722, and the railroad is essentially a hiking path today.
