Situated in remote, desolate though starkly beautiful landscape, Dent Station is the highest mainline station in England at 1150 feet above sea level and winters here can be treacherous. The snow barriers to prevent drifting across the line can be seen on the hillside above the 'Fellsman' train as it approaches the station. The former station house is under renovation with rather garish blue sheeting protecting the re-roofing work from the elements. |
