West of Calmar on the Mason City Sub the railroad built right thru the valleys, so the grades are steeper. East of Calmar the railroad is built on ridges so the grades are less steep. In order to keep the grades down the railroad does alot of curving around which is what 632 is doing as they drop down grade into Luana. The train only 19 miles to go to Marquette, IA. This train will run thru to Dubuque for the next crew change. |
