CSXT C40-8W #7740 leads CP Train 618 (a loaded sludge train) past old XO Tower in Mechanicville, NY. This sludge train originated at Fort Edward, NY where the Hudson River is being dredged of PCB-contaminated riverbed. The river sludge is enroute to Texas. XO Tower, once responsible for controlling movements in and out of the joint B&M/D&H yard in Mechanicville, is in the process of being restored as a visitor center (note the new windows and staircase).
This album seeks to portray classic New England and Upstate New York imagery. It showcases the most perfect examples of regional identity, with special attention to structures and landscape.
Oh the stories these special buildings could tell. Originally the brains of the rails they monitored, working to insure effecient rail service for our nation! A tribute!
