A.E. Goodwin built Alco 4464, which commenced service with the NSW Government Railways in January 1966, and is currently leased to 3801 Ltd. by the owner, Lachlan Valley Alco Locomotive Group, is shown on its first trip after 15 years out of action and after a full restoration. It has arrived at Kandos for the day with two other 44 class locos, 4473 & 4486 (behind the photographer), who have assisted from Sydney over the Blue Mountains, and have now uncoupled to allow the new girl, in her fresh Indian Red paint scheme, to take the train into Kandos Station and the towns people who have turned out to witness a rare visit on this once busy line. The local cement works has closed since this image was recorded and the line is now truncated further south to Charbon Colliery.
