On a pleasant spring day in Illinois, an eastbound Santa Fe hotshot approaches Streator on the morning of April 25, 1987. Trailing lead EMD SD40-2 No. 5145 is a pair of F45s, one of them painted for the ill-fated Southern Pacific Santa Fe merger.
