Double-ended 'Bulldog' A79 is stabled in Ouyen yard, some 508km by rail north-west of Melbourne. The loco had traveled up on the Merbin 'Fruity,' and was detached at Ouyen to be used on a series of local crew training runs to Woomelang, Murrayville and Yelta, during a lull in export wheat traffic while maintenance was being conducted on the silos at Geelong. A79 entered service in 1953 as B79 and ran almost 5 million kilometers before being rebuilt as an 'A' class in 1984-85. Today it is seen in the livery of previous owner Freight Australia, with Pacific National logos and a lavish helping of dirt. (Thanks to 'Ace' for the extra info!)
