Remarks & Notes |
Almost exactly one year to the date of the Bartonsville Covered Bridge being washed away in flood waters from Hurricane Irene, construction crews have begun the rebuilding of a replica bridge. The modern construction technique has the bridge being constructed on steel beams just south of where the bridge will be seated. The crews are using designs from the original bridge and when completed, will lift the wooden covered bridge into position back on the original alignment of the washed out bridge. VTR GP40-2 303 leads the Bellows Falls Switcher (DASW) past the construction site on its way from Chester to Bellows Falls, VT. |
