Barton, MD 10/12/2012 - Along the first mile of freshly restored track on the Georges Creek Railway, a pair of historic Western Maryland locomotives wait for the chance to move revenue freight once again on this former WM branchline. GCK 25--in perfectly restored WM livery--sits on the main track, while FA-2 303 is stored on a short siding with two of the oldest remaining ballast hoppers of WM heritage built in the early 1900s. The WM GP-7s and GP-9s had distincitve short hoods, chopped down by Hagerstown shop crews. Note also the home made sand hatch produced from an old freight car friction bearing cover. Access to locomotive rooftop with permission.
