Rock Island ran whatever it had as evident in May 1965 when EMD F2 No. 40 led an Alco FA-1, an EMD BL-2, an F-7 and the newest of the bunch, No. 1348, a GP-18, off the Kansas River bridge at Topeka, Kansas on a westbound freight. On the other side of the river the train is leaving U.P. rails after traveling over them from Kansas City.
