With the Locher cogwheel system, switches to change the tracks are technical not possible (the cogbar lies to high above the rails), so there are other solutions used. In the foreground the so called "track changer" below Pilatus Kulm station, where a left or right curved piece of track is turned 180 degree along the track axis. While railcar Bhe 1/2 30 is reaching the station, the device is just turning (in about 6 seconds time) for the next train going to the right.
