Steamscape: Ptarmigan Point. After a very stubborn drift delayed them for nearly 30 minutes, the White Pass Rotary Fleet finally rounds Ptarmigan Point, on the western shore of Lake Fraser, and heads for Log Cabin, just 2 miles ahead. The ultimate goal for the day was to reach Bennett, at MP 40, but the drift that required so much effort to breach has consumed a lot of water and there is none available ahead. Time is now a problem as well. The crew will go "dead" in just 3 hours. The train will reach Log Cabin and will indeed press for Bennett, but just a few miles short of it's goal, both the water and the crew time will begin running out. The crew on the train doesn't know it yet, but the rotary fleet will be spending the night back in Fraser.
