Two months after Superstorm Sandy made landfall in New Jersey, NJ Transit is still feeling the aftereffects. Due to storm damage, the catenary into Hoboken Terminal is still without power. As a result, the new ALP-45DP "dual mode" units have found a home on the electrified Gladstone Line. These units are able to operate quietly in electric mode into and out of Gladstone, but switch to diesel mode for the last few miles into Hoboken Terminal. Here an early-afternoon westbound local makes the station stop at Stirling with a friendly wave from the engineer.
