| All of the Chicago Sub east of Davis Junction is now welded rail. However, stick rail is still very prominent in the line west of Davis Junction. Unfortunately this old rail dating back to the Milwaukee days is slowly being replaced. There is nothing like listening to a train roll across a section of jointed rail at speed. 6444 speeds down hill at the route 72 crossing just north of Forreston.
