Remarks & Notes
160 class 5E Bo-Bo electric locomotives were built for the South African Railways (SAR) between 1955 and 1959. In 2011 the last operational member of the class was part of Impala Platinum's fleet and is seen here on a typical winters day in the South African bushveld, hauling a load of empties from the main processing plant to No.12 shaft.

Rare South African photographs (older and newer) on RailPictures.Net, where the potential to recreate them either no longer exists for any number of reasons, or the chances of another opportunity are very slim or non existent!
