As the shadows grow long on a March 1990 afternoon, the second section of Union Pacific's Los Angeles, CA to North Platte, NE freight glides east along the Lynndyl Subdivision at Tintic. A GE C40-8, an EMD SD40-2, and a GE C30-7 lead this train of of auto parts box cars and auto racks through Utah's remote but scenic Tintic Valley, 80 miles west of Salt Lake City.
