A loaded coal train descends the eastern slope of Tennessee Pass, and is about to pass the west switch for the siding at Princeton. From this angle, the right-of-way of the old Colorado Midland Railway can be seen running along the eastern shore the Arkansas River. The 14,000+ ft. Collegiate Peaks, part of the Sawatch Range of the Rocky Mountains, still have areas of snow cover as of this mid-July date. I am reminded of a small billboard alongside Rt. 24 at the Chaffee County line announcing "Chaffee County...Now THIS is Colorado". I couldn't agree more!
