A southbound grain train rolls through the interlocking at Ironville Tower led by a faded YN2 C40-8. Once upon a time, this was a busy junction between the N&W and C&O, as each railroad used the Toledo Terminal to get around Toledo. This classic scene is not long for this world, as the signals, code line and tower could all be gone by the end of 2013.
Oh the stories these special buildings could tell. Originally the brains of the rails they monitored, working to insure effecient rail service for our nation! A tribute!
