Remarks & Notes |
An A-B-A set of Soo F's roll train 911 west at Garnet with 76 cars. FP7 2501A leads 503C and 212A on this cold morning. Sets like this were so common between Gladstone and Sault Ste. Marie in the late 60's-early 70's(before I had a 35mm camera) that it seemed like they were the only units on the Soo's roster. By this time it was an extremely rare occurrence to catch a consist like this on 911-912, if fact an F-unit leading a train in Upper Michigan by the mid-late 70's probably happened less than a dozen times a year. Engine crews didn't really hold these old warriors in high regard as they were a pain in the rear to switch with and to get on and off compared to the more common second generation hood units. |
