Illustrating a time honored railroad engineering practice of following a river to get from point A to point B, the Yakima Valley sub, in part, winds it way through the Yakima River Canyon between Ellensburg and Yakima. The landscape features dramatic ridges of basalt rock, rolling hills and the occasional alluvial plain. The still waters that precede the Roza dam offer wonderful reflective vistas. Throw in a train, provided by the Yakima Valley sub's more famous neighbor, the Stampede sub, and the vista is complete.
