Remarks & Notes |
Rio Grande's Railblazer train No. 102 departs the Roper Piggyback Terminal at 5:55 pm for its 14 hour, 570 mile overnight journey to Denver. That's an overall average of just under 41 mph that includes a crew change at Grand Junction and the slow descent down the Moffat into Denver. After the UP-SP merger, the old D&RGW piggyback ramp became the automobile unloading facility for Wasatch Front car dealerships. Downtown Salt Lake City is above the two SP cabooses parked in the freight yard. |
