Remarks & Notes
Carloads are the lifeblood of any freight railroad. The huge Westvaco paper mill at Luke, MD provided both WM and B&O with a sizable revenue stream from inbound raw materials and outbound paper. On Sept. 13, 1975, WM RS-2 No. 183 is dwarfed by the plant as it shoves a cut of empty boxcars into the plant for loading.
