While having lunch across the street, I stepped away from the table for this grab shot of a very fast moving short southbound. With a tasty and cheap burger joint (the S&S grill), the old depot, and a trackside gazebo for some shade, downtown Thomasville wouldn't be a bad place to relax and watch some trains. The wooden depot was built in 1870 and is perhaps the oldest in the state still standing. It was relagated to use as a freight/baggage depot due to its small size. Ironically Thomasville's later passenger station was razed in the 1970s and the older depot was restored as a visitor center.
