Remarks & Notes |
Two iconic symbols of railroading in the late 1960s and early 1970s, PC "worms" and an ACI label, remain intact in 2013. This former Penn Central 890000-series Pullman Standard 4785 cu.ft. covered hopper car was built in 1972 and is still in revenue service with most of it's original paint intact. Cars from this series often appear on the Susquehanna in New Jersey and will occasionally include legible Penn Central and/or Conrail lettering and heralds. This particular car even retained its ACI label, a precursor to today's AEI (automatic equipment identification) tag. |
