NEW MEET LOCATION: CP Train 609--an empty crude oil train--passes old XO Tower as it heads through Mechanicville on its way north as ST Train 22K gets recrewed for its journey east to Ayer, MA. 609 is on the CP Colonie Subdivision while 22K is on the Pan Am Southern Freight Main. Just a few years ago, this photo wasn't possible, as the Pan Am Freight Main and CP Colonie Subdivision actually connected at this point, the old CPF467, and single track continued for 8 miles to CPF475. With the new Mechanicville yard, however, the configuration has been changed, with the two mainlines coming together a little bit behind the photographer at CPF468, and a new, roughly 2-mile siding extends to the new CPF469.
