Once again, Amtrak phase IV heritage engine #184 is assigned to the Coast Starlight's locomotive pool. Along with this, the Coast Sub has livened up quite a bit due to the recent derailments on Tehachapi Pass. Earlier today, there was a BNSF Z train headed south from Oakland, and this train's counterpart, #11, was led by BNSF 4856, one of their countless C44-9Ws.
Running daily between Seattle and Los Angeles, this train offers running alongside the Pacific Ocean and through the Cascade Mountains. It has been one of Amtrak's long-distance success stories.
