B27 passes by one of the many farms nestled in the bluffs of the Mississippi River valley. In a few short months these bluffs will be lush with greenery and the fields will be planted with crops. The former owner of the line, the DM&E, thrived on hauling the local crops to larger markets, serving several grain elevators located in the small communities along the line. Today, between Winona and Rochester, there is very little rail service. Another sign of CP's takeover and Hunter Harrison's plan to run an "efficient" railroad.
