Parallel parked—not A Soo Line train using trackage rights on the Milwaukee Road derailed at night on the trip into Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in April 1984. I don’t remember much of the details, but I seem to recall that the cause was some kids opening a switch to an industrial spur that the train hit at track speed. I don’t think anyone was seriously hurt, but I really don’t want to know what is in that tagged bag on the right. A cleanup crew is on site to begin draining the fuel tanks of remaining diesel fuel before contract crews begin moving the cars and locomotives.
