Remarks & Notes |
5 big Utah Ry 6 axle units lead this loaded coal train up the steep grade of Price River Canyon on Union Pacific's Provo Sub. The location is Kyune, with it's center siding. 6 more 6 axle units are out of sight around the far curve working as manned helpers. The power on this train is amazing: 6 MK5000C's, 4 SD50's and 1 SD40-2 for a total horsepower of 38,000! Yet this lash up is an everyday occurrence here. The manned helpers will stay in the train until the next siding and set of crossovers at Colton where they will cut out and return downgrade to Martin yard. Big time mountain railroading in Utah. |
