Remarks & Notes |
In what was at the moment a normal scene would change in a few days once Irene paid a visit to Upstate, NY. This was Friday. I started following this train at Delanson and cut off the chase here and went back to work. The humidity was incredible. Nothing like I ever felt before. By Sunday the village of Central Bridge was an Island. Most towns in the Schoharie Valley were underwater or a flood stage. The two bridges that this train crossed to reach here were the only thing standing after floodwaters blew out the ROW linking them. The Damages that occurred to CP's D&H pail in comparison to damages and mental scars that would end up occurring below here and to the surrounding towns. And would end up changing the face and lives of people who resided then and now to this day in the Mohawk and Schoharie Valleys. |
