Remarks & Notes |
The westbound H54, or Trail Turn, blares its horn as it passes through the small community of Oklee on the Bemidji subdivision. This job originates in the Thief River Falls yard and travels down the Detroit Lakes subdivision to Plummer then onto the Bemidji subdivision to the Strata Corporation gravel pit in Trail, Minnesota. The Bemidji subdivision is the former SOO Plummer Line constructed around 1910 from Plummer to Moose Lake via Bemidji. Today the line is nothing but a 10 mph branch line using the original rail manufactured and laid in 1910. In its current condition it is hard to imagine that it once hosted daily passenger service amongst regular freight service to Duluth. |
