Hot Pulga nights.
Well it wasn't actually so warm outside but the railroad action was hot in the Feather River canyon as the last few days of the Donner detours unfolded in the canyon. UP 7494 and mates have the eastbound Roseville, CA to North Platte, NE well in hand as they work their way through a moon lit Feather River canyon at Pulga. Here the former Western Pacific 3rd Subdivision, now UP's Canyon Subdivision, crosses over the Feather river while high above CA70 crosses river and railroad on an impressive steel bridge in a scene that has become a Feather River classic over the years.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
