Five units lead a westbound empty coal train around Big Ten Curve near Clay Siding. The assault on the Front Range is now in full swing and the train will be climbing steadily toward Moffat Tunnel. This was an otherwise cloudy afternoon, so it was a pleasant surprise when the sun appeared, illuminating both the train and downtown Denver (seen in the distance at upper right). This train met Amtrak 6, the eastbound California Zephyr, at Rocky siding moments earlier.
