Running from the storm. Northern Central Engineer Steve has Locomotive 17 "York" hooked up and "haulin' the mail" as the 3PM excursion runs from an ugly cumulonimbus that's about to dump some serious moisture on the Codorus Valley. As I take this shot, the cool, gusty outflow ahead of this storm is just hitting the train and a small group of fans who are chasing her south. I suspect that right about now, the train's conductor is assessing the number of empty seats left in the enclosed coaches and preparing to go back and get the occupants of the trailing open excursion car to begin moving forward. In just over 5 minutes, this train would be engulfed in a soaking downpour, and the passengers treated to a sound and light show from the heavens above.
For the train and storm chaser. Trains with thunderstorms, dark clouds, rain, lightning, hurricanes - tropical storms, funnel clouds, storm light, rainbows, and snow storms.
