Climbing the Raurimu Spiral, Ja 1275 has filled the lower tunnel with steam hauling Mainline Steam excursion from Auckland to National Park. The grade is 2% with severe curvature and this part of the Main Trunk was electrified after lowering of tunnels in the 1980's.
