Nickel Plate 765 plows across the fertile farmland of Central Michigan in the fall of 2009 as the sun sets behind the locomotive. HDR was used to bring out the detail in the vibrantly colored soy beans and grass in the foreground while maintaining the as-shot appearance of the rest of the photo.
Landscape photography is difficult due to the challenge of combining good light and good scenery. Good railroad photography enters another level of complexity since it requires the first two while there is a train in view.
